Here's one of those wonderful exchanges between Calvin and Hobbs, about being an artist:

Calvin: "Times are tough for us Suburban Post-Modernists.
People seem to be reluctant to pay for sidewalk drawings
that stay where they are and wash away in the rain.
And nowadays, nobody wants tax money to support art,
and corporations won't underwrite me because I'm not famous enough
to effectively advertise their cultural enlightenment."
Hobbes: "Couldn't you support your art with another job?"
Calvin: "What, you mean work?"
;-)

Grüsse aus Wien
Hallo Dagmar,

wünscht Dir Dein Freund Heinz Hoffmann (inasag@racsa.co.cr)

Wed Sep 1 1999,

Hi. I tried to send you something a while ago. In between my painting and family,
I have been doing some writing and emailing, and when I saw your address, I thought I'd try to write to you again.
I have often wondered how your work would change over the years..
At the time I knew you, your work was already 'fully developed', so it was really great
to see what you have been doing!!
Whenever someone goes into some story about how prints can never be unto themselves
a valid medium, I try to evoke the wonderful Austrian man I had met
who made these deeply layered, intense visual poems.
By the way your page is wonderful. It will probably take me a while to go through the whole site.

Dear Anton and Dagmar:
I love your web page and your sense of humor.
Recently I was going through some old papers sorting out a lifetime of accumulated possessions.
I came across some lithographs that my husband and I purchased at a street fair in New York city.
I think it was about 20 years ago or more.
There are two lithographs. One is called SHELLS and the other is titled SHIP.
The thing that puzzles me is that they are signed Toni Krajnc not Anton.
Do you think they could be authentic Krajnc prints?
Did Master Krajnc ever called himself Toni?
These are very beautiful and mysterious looking drawings.
I don't know how they got buried all these years...
I would appreciate any information you can give me about these works.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.
Marie Gray (Graychef2@aol.com)

Hi Dagmar and Anton.
This is Engracia (I met both of you at MRI's Christmas party; long black hair and semi-asian features).
It's been awhile since I last saw Dagmar at the ground breaking of the new building.
I am glad to see that you have expanded your horizons and included sculpting.
I was very interested in how you built your own kiln.
Dane has also been working on some new bronze sculptures for a show in Paris this coming October.
I would love to see more of Anton's sculptures.
Dagmar, I know that you had talked about compiling a book with your photographs,
have all these rainy days allowed you to do so?
Best of luck to all your ventures.
Sincerely,
Engracia Dang (dange@U.Arizona.EDU)

Liebe Dagmar!
Alles Liebe
Luise-Luxi (kuzmany@via.at)

re: Your Incredible Website
Dear Dagmar:
Congratulations to your wonderful website! I took a "quick" look the other day,
and spent an hour admiring Toni's paintings, lithos, icons, etc.,
and thoroughly enjoyed your witty and entertaining words that accompany his work.
You two make quite a pair!
I was also thrilled to find a couple of pictures of you stuck away somewhere - you have not changed a bit!
From the entire presentation of the web site, your writings and the visitor's comments,
I read between the lines that your life over the past fifteen years was a good one,
and that you have enjoyed success and happiness. Am I right?
Talk to you soon, and all the best to both of you,
Love,
Roswitha ( Rjkfrancis@aol.com)

Tue, 25 May 1999

I have just taken a look at Tony's latest ---- soooo interesting.
His feelings about the path of life resonate deeply with me, as I'm sure they do with a lot of people.
Sometimes it is indeed dark along the way. . . .

dear dagmar
paul and i have just been on a quick tour. we went to athos.
we found the "candle" but our poor wee computer couldn't move it
without having to load "plug-ins" and what-nots.
so, we had a look at the DAGMAR links. we truly enjoyed them!
you have captured the energy.

...I remember well the afternoon Lee Karpiscak and I spent at your house
several years ago. It was an illuminating and stimulating experience.

I had the opportunity to look at your website and, indeed,
Anton has been quite active, producing a variety of works on paper,
paintings as well as the prints. I am sure he takes great pride
in what he has accomplished. It is extraordinary.

Thank you for taking the time to keep me updated. Please let me know
when the next exhibit in our region takes place.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Museum,

Dear Dagmar,
I just finished browsing through the web page of Anton's work,
I have not had the chance of viewing his art and I must say
I was greatly impressed by the quality and the beauty of his work.
I really don't know much about art, but I do know beauty when I see it.
It caught my eye that the work is quite diverse, it's not the same types of images
all the time, I especially fell in love with "Sun and Sky",
I think it's FABULOUS!!!!
Maybe one of these days I can afford one.
Ciao, Gina (ginacobos@hotmail.com)

Dagmar,
I was discussing PDU-1 with one of my customers,
and mentioned that Anton was doing the cover art.
Apparently he was interested enough to hunt your site down. :)

Here's his comment:

I found a website about Anton Krajnc.
Interesting, soft and dreamy looking. Carl

Hello Dagmar and Anton!!
It is COLD here and we are expecting snow here today again.
It does not last long, but is messy just the same.
I must apologize for not sending you this BIG THANK YOU sooner.
We enjoyed our visit to your home and Anton's studio so much.
It was nothing short of inspiring for me to see Anton's work
as I was an art student for years. Thank you, Anton!

I'm new online, found your great website.
I've appreciated your HAIR shots for 30 years now,
your page says possible to get prints?
I was a former "Hair Groupie" with the Venus tour--
have always the souvenir book, the 1969 published book and the music book,
all of which had your photos.
I studied those pictures the way other teens studied "Playboy"...
Your site is very well done and much enjoyed!
Thank you--

Words from Europe, Mon, 8 Feb '99

Hello there...
I happened upon your site and I want to say Hey.
My name is Mike Messer, I come from NYC and I'm playing Berger
in the new European Tour 30th Anniversary production of HAIR.
I love your photos. I'm really good friends with Jim Rado,
and Tom O'Horgan is like a mentor to me.
I wasn't around when the original HAIR was produced,
but that play has influenced my life in many major ways.
It is great to look at your photos. I'll keep checking back in for more.
Peace.
Love, Berger (Mancub212@aol.com)

Hi Dagmar,
I have been viewing your website and I am astounded with the work that Toni (Anton)
does and hope one day to see it in person. In the meantime,
I would like to order the Venice poster for my mom, for her birthday, March 1st.
You have done an amazing job on the website, Dagmar.
Looking forward to viewing more, I remain, your ardent admirer,

Hello from Florida!!!!
Hi Dagmar and Anton!!!!
I just viewed your websites and I think the artwork that you've been doing
and photographing is just wonderful!!!! I really love one of the details from the frescoes
called "Paradise." It's just a really different interpretation of the whole creation story,
and the detail and original qualities are wonderful.

Anyway, I will get my parents to look at your website this weekend.
I think they'll love it just as much as I do.

HAIR!
Hi there --
What wonderful images you have captured on film! I am 30, and have never seen
the stage production (though I suffered through half of the motion picture) -
but when I was a child, I used to listen to my father's soundtrack.
I fell in love with the songs, the spirit and the lyrics of the music.
I believe it shaped me to be the somewhat jaded, anti-authoritarian I am today.
I stumbled upon your website while looking for information on Shelley Plimpton,
and wanted to share with you my envy and my appreciation of your interactions with that production.
Best wishes to you,
Cristina (Cristina.Comer@turner.com) http://members.xoom.com/AriaSun

Hallo!

Somehow, by some strange set of circumstances... your web-site showed up on my E-mail...
I looked it up... became interested...
Austria was home to me during my entire teen-years, - the love for the land is there.
I do admire your stick-toativeness in finishing this enormous Chapel Project...
and though I have not yet entirely finished reading your article... I am glad it found its way to me.
So I thank you. -

Elisabeth Hradil
Lieber Tony, in diesem Sinne, die allerbesten Glückwünsche!
Elisabeth und Werner Hradil Lambach, Austria

So very thrilled to have met both you and Anton on the Solstice. (kindred spirits that's for sure)
I have visited your web site quite often. There is always something else to check out.
I introduced my Mom to it yesterday.
I must bring Mom and Dad and Les up to the studio sometime to see the creations in person.
Mom was just fascinated not only with the art work but also with the web pages, like myself.
I just came back from your Hair web page tonight. That was fun.
I too talk to the animals and to the rocks and the trees and the stars.
I liked your Rudi story. It sounds familiar.

I think your ability to speak several languages is truly a very special gift.
How would you like to learn Lakota or Navajo?
Do you know of the story of the Navajo Code Talkers?

I am trying to find out if you are Toni Krajnc.
My grandparents (Ed and Regina Diman, living in Cranston, RI USA)
asked me to look you up on the internet and see if I could make contact with you
to find out what you have been doing and how your life has been going.
I guess they met you in Europe on one of their trips many years ago...
They only gave me a little article and a small picture to go by.
I checked out your website and I would like to take my hat off to your wife Dagmar.
Great job!!!
I am trying to get my website up and running
and it seems to be a constant struggle to keep the content and image that you want.
I am quite impressed with your paintings, frescos, litho's etc. Wonderful!
It's nice to make your cyberspace acquaintance.
All the best,
Erik Kafrissen (perthmoney@perth.igs.net)

came by, had a look :)
Well, I'll tell you, Dagmar... I went to visit and was blown away!!
Anton's site is wonderful - I didn't even look at everything,
but I loved the frescos and *loved* the litho with the arches :)
He seems very much to be an artist in the old sense of the word,
Renaissance-Man-type of person,
who works in any medium he can use to bring his ideas across.
Beautiful work :)
Chris Zielski (preed@nacs.net)

Wow! What an adventure! I just went to your site
and felt as if I went on a long trip.
I was very impressed with the work you do, both of you.
Your photos were sensitive and beautifully balanced, a difficult combination.
And Anton's work is close to my heart.

Nachrichten aus OÖ
Liebe Dagmar,lieber Toni!!
