The Orange Shirt
Impact Week
Comic Book
Mixdowns

The Orange Shirt is shipping as well as the sharewear CDR. Claude mentioned that the CDs were not all created equal in the way that they were signed. What this means exactly, will be unknown until people start receiving them and spreading the word. Claude will be posting the track listing soon. The CD itself is white and there is no information that comes with it.

Claude mentioned that impact week was approaching--the time of heavy promotion of a project. He is hoping that the fans will help spread the word about Anything Box and the new album. He will be posting some ideas on how to help in the upcoming weeks.

Claude has started his own work on the comic book doing the layout and adding text. He's having fun with it and is eager to see what reaction it brings.

Claude is beginning mixdowns on the new single and its b-sides followed by work on the album.

Orders are still being taken for the new Anything Box products, the new single and the Orange shirt. To order items, send a check or money order to:

Worth
Website update

A new printing of Worth is a reality. Claude posted on the forum that he's put together a new version of Worth which contains an eight page black and white booklet full of photos. He has also added two songs which he and Dania worked on during that time. He has sent the new material to the printers.

Once Worth is out, Claude will be updating the anythingbox.com website. He will be adding three new pages as well as free downloadable song. There will also be a slight overhaul to the rest of the site.

Worth
New Releases

Claude posted on the fan forum that he is close to re-pressing Anything Box's Worth album. Generally considered the hardest of their albums to find, Worth is likely to see some changes. Claude mentioned adding some new artwork to the album and possibly a new song.

Claude mentioned an agenda for upcoming releases he is planning for:

The Universe Is Expanding (new album)
Worth (album re-pressing)
The Effects of Stereo TV (EP)
Freeware for a friend
as well as some new shirts!

It hasn't been stated as to what exactly the freeware for a friend will be, but as Claude wrote at the forum, "you'll see." I'll try to update the News Page as soon as more information becomes available.

Chain Reaction
Album Update
EP
Comic Book

Anything Box has a scheduled show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Claude has stated that he is planning on bringing his own guitar to the show, so this might be a chance for one of those rare opportunities to see Claude play guitar. It is very likely that the band will include several songs from the upcoming album in their set.

The band continues to work on the new album, and are currently in the process of recording vocals. It is unknown whether long time Anything Box member Dania Morales has taken part in any of the vocals, although Claude has hinted at it on the anythingbox.com fan forum. The album is roughly 90% completed.

Claude mentioned that he has written so many songs this year that it is likely that there might be two EPs worth of material which won't make it on the new album.

Gary has expressed interest in creating a comic book with the band members as characters. The question remains as to what superpowers each member will have. This is only a thought and only time will tell if anything becomes of it.

Album Update
EP
The Sun Theatre show:
Mexico City

Claude posted his latest album update on the forum saying the upcoming, The Universe Is Expanding album, is 90% complete. Former Anything Box member, Dania Morales, dropped by at the studio and will be listening to tracks in preparation of doing some backing vocals. Though assisiting with the vocals, it is unlikely she will be performing with the band.

The artwork for the album, which is always an integral part of an Anything Box releases, is 60% complete. Claude mentioned the need of their space suits being made, and some pesky aliens that won't stay still. Sounds rather strange, yet intriguing.

An EP is expected to be released about three months following the album, and is 30% complete. The proposed title is The Effects of Stereo TV. This is different from the earlier EP title of The Comfort Of Being Sad, as noted on the 2/14/00 News date. That album was primarily to contain some acoustic tracks. As stated in the forum, the new EP may contain an Elektrodelica track on it as well as Molly's Lips, which is a cover of an old Vaseline's song which Claude first heard as a cover being performed by Nirvana. Anything Box recently performed the song live at their show at the Playroom in Hollywood.

On September 20th, Anything Box performed as the opening band at the Sun Theatre in Anaheim, California. The headliner was Paul Humphreys (OMD), who is continuing his OMD revisted tour. This marks the second time the band has had the opportunity to open for Paul, who was the headliner Synthstock 2000. Anything Box was impressive at that show, and was invited to open in Anaheim. Though playing for only 45 minutes, the Band put on an excellent show and received a great response from the crowd.

Anything Box had been scheduled to perform in Mecixo City at as part of Electronic Beats for Safe Fears on Sept 22, but an accident with a member of Elegant Machinery, who were also scheduled to perform, forced the postponement of the show. Anything Box is still very interested in performing in Mexico City, and dates and venues are being checked for the rescheduling of the show.

Dream13:
The Hollywood show:

Anything Box has released a new song, Dream13, at mp3.com. It is a new track that did not make the final cut onto the new album, so the band has made it available for free download. To visit the Anything Box site at mp3.com click here.

Anything Box played an enjoyable show in Hollywood over Labor Day weekend along with Red Flag. The mysterious Superman from the Synthstock show was not present. I asked Claude about Superman following the show and his answer was simply, "he didn't make it tonight?"

9/1/00

Superman:

At the August 24 Synthstock show in Salt Lake City, Utah, Anything Box was joined on stage by a mysterious fourth band member. Besides Claude, Gary, and Paul, there was another keyboard player who was dressed in a Superman shirt and was simply referred to by the audience as Superman. During the show, Superman played keyboards and at mid-set, stepped forward to challenge Gary to a beat-box battle. Although the newcomer showed talent, he was easily defeated by Gary. The queston remains . . . who was this person? Perhaps we will all find out more at the upcoming Anything Box show in Hollywood this Labor Day weekend.

Dream13.2X:
Synthstock2000:

Has it really been so many months since I last updated the news page?

First off, the most recent news, Anything Box is still working on the new album and things are really starting to flow smoothly. After several struggles, it appears as though Claude has finally gotten the vocals to a satisfactory sound. So, he's once again recording vocals and then will begin the finishing touches on the album. He also has a lot of interesting stuff planned like the following:

Claude stated on the forum that he plans to eventually post more songs on mp3.com. These songs will be "b-sides" which won't make the album's final cut. the first of these songs, Dream13.2X, should be posted very soon. I'll update the page as soon as it happens.

Synthstock, though the original lineup and date were cancelled is still going to happen, and Anything Box is still going to be a part of it. The new date is August 24, and the other bands playing will be Real Life, Berlin, and Paul Humphreys. Sure the lineup is not as strong as before, but Anything Box should put on a typically great show. I'll be there to take pictures as usual.

5/22/00

New anythingbox.com:

Claude has opened the new anythingbox.com website, and it's wild. While the site can be viewed in a typical fashion, it is also heavily loaded with a lot of special pages which you have to discover by visiting various areas of the site. There are some hidden, never before released songs in MP3 format that be found by pushing all the right buttons. Overall, the new site is much more creative and artistic. You can visit anythingbox.com by clicking here.

5/15/00

New Song mp3:

While the band continues to work on the upcoming album, to help appease fans' demands for new material, Anything Box has released a new song, Relic, at mp3.com for fans to listen to and download. To visit the Anything Box site at mp3.com click here.

New album:
Dania:
New Website:
Synthstock:

On a sad note, the new album is delayed. Claude mentioned on the fan forum that he was playing the tracks and discovered that they sounded "wrong". So he's going to rework everything which will put a delay on the new album. He said he's hoping for July or August.

Claude also stated that Dania seemed "eager" in regards to doing some backing vocals on the new album.

Claude also mentioned a new anythingbox.com website is still in the works. No idea when it will be fully up and running.

Anything Box is scheduled to play at Synthstock 2000 which is set for July 19, in Salt Lake City. Alphaville will be the top headliner.

2/14/00

Anything Box EP:
New website delayed:

As Claude continues his work on the next Anything Box album, he has expressed plans for an Anything Box EP which would follow the release of the new album. The EP will be and acoustic of guitar and vocals and is called The Comfort of Being Sad.

Claude also stated that he isn't quite satisfied with initial testing of the new Anything Box official website, so more work is still required before it goes online.
