Welcome to Chrispy's Kitchen

This is just a basic page so far with a description of services & rates.

Please allow me to introduce myself

I am Chris Corley, Producer, Audio Engineer & Drummer for the band BENEVOLENCE!
I've been Professionally involved in Audio Engineering since 1995 & have been a Drummer since age 5.
I'm Currently 27 years old & I live in the west side of Fort Worth, Texas.
I have attended 2 Audio Schools in addition to music courses in school.
The schools I attended were Audio Institute of America, in which I graduated with a 4.0 & honors. {I was also told by the head of the school that I had a really good ear. . .it really tripped him out that I could hear the delay in the vocal doubling effect that was on a test I took. It was approx 25-30ms if I remember correctly.}
From there I went on to tour with Between Thieves & run Front of House for Club 412.
I also did other gigs, such as A Certain Sound & Stage & various gigs @ God's Place, when it was still in Grand Prarie. I also did some gigs with Dallas Back Up for a short period & various gigs around town. I also worked stage & some FOH @ Texas TomFest it's 1st year. By that point I had run sound for & made friends with most of the Solid State Records & Tooth & Nail Roster among other labels & locals, I had also played gigs with many of these bands too. I decided I wanted to go back to school for a while @ that point & chose
The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Tempe, AZ.
    At that School I came out with a 4.0 & honors & a Pro Tools Certification {Which I haven't touched Mac based pro tools since then. . .but its pretty simple so getting used to mac again is the only hurdle.}
    I aced my live sound test, infact my live sound teacher went out for a smoke break cause he already knew I was a live sound guy. LOL!!
    From that point I went on to intern & then work @ Aidan Audio which was located @ Pantego Studios on Raper Blvd. Pantera Fans will recognise that place as the studio COWBOYS FROM HELL was recorded in. Ahh the stuff I found there. Anyhow, I went from there to doing independant recording gigs, meeting and making friends with alot of engineers. One of them did some live sound for Pink Floyd, another does sound for Bonnie Raitt & owns a really nice studio. I also found out one of my friends & classmates is doing rather well.
He Recorded Evanescence's "Fallen".
Anyhow, its good to know that my buddys from school are doing pretty well.
Currently I am a Freelance Audio Engineer.
    I own alot of my own gear {studio & live} & I have some steady gigs on the weekends, but as any Freelance Audio Engineer, if I'm not totally booked up or over booked I can always take on more.
For those of you who have been to the Door Fort Worth, I ran sound there for close to 2 years of the 2 and a half it has been open. I had some months in there that I took off for a while, so there were other engineers and what we call appliance operators {ahem. . .non engineers.} working there too. . .
. . .but I was the main one. I wasn't let go or fired, I left of my own accord.
I promised Jeff Hall that if he ever left the Door that I would leave with him. . .
as you can see, unlike some in this business. . .
I kept my word!!!!!
In addition to playing drums in Benevolence, I play drums in a couple other projects
{e-mail me if you really want to know about them} and I play guitar in a band.
{My main guitar is a Ty Tabor signature model Yamaha,
can you tell I'm a King's X fan?}
My only other form of income is Bicycle Mechanic & Assembler.
I am also a Vintage Mustang GURU/NUT. . .I'm Obsessed with them!!!!!
Uh, I've begun to ramble. *grin*

Anyhow, heres the Lowdown below:

 Live Sound

I currently run Front of House for The ASYLUM in Fort Worth.
    The ASYLUM is located off of the HWY 199 access road between 9 mile Bridge and Confederate Park.
It was the former TNA Rocks & Sawmill location.

I live about 15 minutes away from the club.
    I am available during the week with advance notice. I'm also available on a day I am @ the ASYLUM if given enough advance notice to get someone to fill in & you out bid Jeff Hall. On those days be prepared to bid $150.00 to 200.00 or more. Depending on the gig I will probably want close to that or more on days I'm not @ the ASYLUM! I do have outboard gear & mics if needed but other than that this is a strictly walk in gig. You provide the PA & Venue.
Sundays I run sound for Lake Country Church & I am available on sundays too.
Same holds true, you have to outbid them.

Studio Recording & Mixing

      I'm available @ a rate of $30.00 an hour or $250.00 a day. This is my walk in rate. I do have my own personal gear that can be used @ my place or if you want to pay extra for gas & someone to help haul the gear & set it up @ your place I can bring it to you. The use of other studios which I do have access to are above & beyond my personal rate. This also does not include Media Costs. {ADAT TAPE, DAT TAPE, CDR'S  ETC} The Average Media Cost is $50.00 for a session.

    I can mix your project that has already been recorded but it needs to be in Blackface ADAT format {16 bit 48k} & no more than 24 tracks. Be sure when doing this to make backups of your project. I'm not responsible for your failure to do so & am not responsible for your masters if the machine eats the tape. {If you had made a backup & some freak accident like that happened then everything would be ok. . .tape machines are prone to failure on occasion, even digital hard disk recorders aren't perfect.}
The Cost for just mixing your project is $250.00 a day.

    NOTE: I do NOT mix on the same day I track, after a long day of tracking your ears are fatigued. I also prefer to pick a day that I have the whole day free to mix your project. Our names are both going on this project so I want us BOTH happy with the final result.

Mastering

    If you have done a full project with me from start to finish often I will just do the basic mastering on the clock @ an hourly rate. I also on those projects give you 2 Master copies & 1 cdr copy "one off" per band Member.

Here's the rates for Mastering when it's not with a full blown project!

0-10 minutes is 100 dollars
10:01-15 minutes is 150 dollars
15:01-20 minutes is 200 dollars
20:01-25 minutes is 250 dollars
25:01-30 minutes is 300 dollars
30:01-60 minutes is 400 dollars
60:01- a full cd is 500 dollars

    I can either do 74 minute cd's or 80 minute ones but either way I like to leave about 2 minutes @ the tail end of the CDR cause that part of the CDR is usually prone to errors, so to avoid that possibility so that your project comes out without the last 2 minutes of the CD skipping all over the place, lets make the max either 72 or 78 minutes depending on the length of the CDR.

NOTE: On the $500.00 package, you get 2 Master CDR's plus one "one off" per band Member. On the $100.00 to $400.00 projects you only get the 2 Masters. See Duplication for additional info!

Duplication

I also offer duplication on CDR's. I do NOT do Artwork, CD printing, inserts, or shrink wrapping. This is just offered to save you the headache of making tons of CDR copies to sell or give away @ shows or hand to clubs with your promo packs etc.

Pricing goes on a scale like this.

50 CDR's is 100 dollars.
100 cd's is 150 dollars.
150 is 200 dollars.
200 is 250 dollars.
250 is 300 dollars.
etc etc.

It gets cheaper & cheaper the larger quanities you order.

    If you need referral to an artist or someone to duplicate your project in a manner in which it could be sold in mass quantities in stores I can refer you to some places &/or people who can help you in that area.

I am also available for Producing, for Live Recording, for Teaching Drums, For Tuning Drums, Drummer for hire {Live or Studio}, Drum, Guitar or Bass Tech, Roadie, etc. E-mail me to discuss rates on those, to inquire about or book any of the above services or to ask me what gear I personally own or have access to.

 BENEVOLENCE

Do me a huge favor and come hang out at the ASYLUM!!!!! It's a new all ages concert venue, we have an ever expanding 20,000 watt PA, I'm moving my recording gear in there cause the floated hardwood floor sounds great for drums, real live sounding. . .like a huge studio.
The club is not only available as a concert venue, but to also book private parties, recording, mixing, mastering, practicing {with a PA & house engineer if your willing to pay extra. . .}
We also have 3 pool tables, fooseball, a Ms. Pacman arcade game {circa 1980} The bar has non-alcoholic drinks, candy, cookies, burgers, and burritos. Once the Kitchen is back up & running, we will possibly be serving other food, but for now you have to NUKE IT!!!!!
You can come just to hang out, or to watch a band or whatever you like, the bands are easily seen & heard from all the games & the bar.
So come check out the coolest new venue in town & bring your friends.
