Sorry Folks - I am currently living in Chennai, India while I do some engineering work for Cairn Energy on a deepwater oil and gas drilling project. Just like most other guides these days, I do "other" work in addition to guiding. Doing deepwater drilling engineering work is the "other" half of my life and these days i'm pretty damn busy so it is taking up most of my available time. I am expected to be out of the country until around May of 2001. So we will not be teaching any classes until I return. I am doing some local climbing here, and I'll try to post some images within the next few weeks, so please check back and have a look! I'll still check my email while I'm away. Thanks - Chuck Lohn

PS - If you want to contact me by mail, you can write to: Chuck Lohn, 3-E, Cambrae Hall, 27 Victoria Crescent Road, 3rd Floor, Egmore, Chennai - 600008 INDIA. Please send steaks!!

All Hangdog Beginner classes, intermediate trips, and anchors classes are taught
at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, Oklahoma. The Wichitas was the first
federal wildlife refuge ever established in the US, and it is home for a wide variety
of wildlife including elk, buffalo, deer, beaver, and coyotes. The 60,000 acre property
has eight climbing locations that are surrounded by forested areas, incredible trails,
and multiple lakes and streams. The Wichitas are located just 3.5 hours away from
Dallas, and 1.5 hours away from Oklahoma City. Hangdog offers three courses that cover
everything from the basics for the rank beginner, to advanced topics for experienced climbers.

Beginner Course:
Our beginning rock class is a two-day course taught at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. All beginning classes are taught with a top-rope, and are intended for rank beginners or indoor climbers with little or no previous climbing experience. And no, you don't need to be "He-Man" to take the beginning course! Beginning topics include rope handling, belaying, top-rope protection placement, and climbing techniques. Even though we cover several technical details for each class, we spend most of our time on the rock, so you can always count on having a good time while you learn. All climbing equipment is provided, including rock shoes. Course cost is $125.00 for the 2-day school. All Beginner trips take place on the second weekend of Every Month. Year Round!

Intermediate Course:
Our intermediate trips are designed for people who have done some top-roped
climbing, and are ready to try some bigger stuff. On the intermediate trips,
each guide climbs with two to three clients, and you will learn by example as
you follow your guide up several lead climbing routes. You will see how
protection is set, participate in multi-pitch climbs, and you will finish the trip
with an understanding of lead climbing. Each rope team is "ability grouped,"
so clients can decide if they want to climb some hard routes, or just enjoy
the views on some friendlier terrain. And we always do a different set of
climbs for each intermediate trip so that repeat visitors will always see a
fresh set of challenges with each new trip. For something different this
year, we will travel to Quartz Mounain near Altus, Oklahoma for our inter-
mediate trips in February, March, October and November. All climbing
equipment is provided, including rock shoes.
The intermediate trip cost is $150.00 for the weekend.

Intermediate Trip Prerequisites: Intermediate class participants will follow guides up lead routes, so it is important that participants know how to belay, rappel, and tie in. Lower-level teams typically climb routes that start at 5.6, so it is not necessary to climb 5.9 to do an intermediate trip. Refresher topics are all covered in a condensed handout from HANGDOG which is available upon request. If you are an indoor climber, and you don't know where you would fit in, then just give us a call, and we can set you up with an appropriate rope team. No Problem! All Intermediate Trips take place on the fourth weekend of every month. Year round! Climbing on some Oklahoma Sandstone.

Anchors Class:
Our anchors classes are one-day trips which concentrate on protection placement. We teach this course at the refuge, and we let each student simulate lead climbs while on a loose top-rope. The instructors then critique each anchor placement and work with you to help improve your techniques. Emphasis is also placed on belay station setups. The anchors course cost is $100.00. Please call us for our next dates.

How to Register for Rock Climbs:
To register for a rock class, just print out the Registration Form, fill it out,
and either mail it or fax it to Hangdog Mountaineering at the address listed on
the form. Spaces are limited, so you may not want to "think about it" for too
long! When you do sign up, please remember to print the map which shows
how to get to the climbing area. Sorry, we cannot sign you up for a
course if you don't pay in advance. We accept checks, Visa, Amex and
