| Several times a year, H.O.T. Dog Club
administers the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Test. Both members and non-members
are eligible to participate in the test. The Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) is an American Kennel Club (AKC) certified program that tests how a dog reacts to real situations they encounter in their daily life. The purpose of the CGC Test is to recognize dogs, who, because of their owners training, can be relied upon to behave well at home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. The ten (10) steps in the CGC certification test are:
Members of the Houston Obedience Training Dog Club, Inc., a Houston area training club promoting the sport of dog obedience training, will administer the test. Registration and testing will be on a first come, first serve basis. Tests are held at the City of Houston Metropolitan Multiservice Center located at 1475 West Gray, Houston, TX 77019. Please park along Haddon Street in back of the center. A copy of your dogs rabies certificate and county license must be presented at registration. You will also need to bring your dogs grooming brush. There is a $7.00 fee for each dog tested. The entire examination takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. A certificate will be presented to those dogs and handlers who satisfactorily complete the test. Dogs must wear a regular or training collar (pinch or prong collars are not allowed,) and food as an enticement is not allowed during the test. Does your AKC
