It is said that Samantha Looney, widow of Benjamin 5, carried her baby William 6 January Looney in a basket and covered him with wool when the Cherokees were moved from northern Alabama to the Indian Territory. She left the group in northwest Arkansas and went to Missouri, where she married (2) John 5 Looney after the death of his wife Elizabeth (Littleton) Looney in 1844.

Robert 6 Hunter Looney (Samuel 5 Wilson, Absalom 4, Benjamin 3) married Elizabeth Prude and had:

Benjamin 6 Franklin Looney (Benjamin 5, Franklin, Absalom 4, Benjamin 3) was born ca 1859, probably in Bossier Parish, La. After his father’s accidental death in 1859 he was taken by his mother to Marion County, Texas, where at the 1860 census we find Mrs. Josephine Looney and her ten months old baby, Benjamin 6 Franklin Looney living near Jefferson, Texas, in the home of Nancy (McDade) Frith, b. 1810 in La. Benjamin 6 F. Looney became Associate Justice of the Fifth Supreme Judicial District of Texas, and later Attorney General of Texas. He married -_____. Their children were:

        Mai-Fare Looney  d. ca 1932; m. _____ Ashburn, who died.

Hon. William 6 Augustus Looney, M.D. (William 5 Evan, Samuel 4, Samuel 3) was born 9 April 1831 in Henry County, Tenn., a few years before his father’s death. He remained with his mother until her death in 1852, then removed to Johnson County, Ill. In 1855, where he taught school. In 1857 he began practicing medicine in Williamson County and graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1868. In 1861 he organized a company and was elected Captain, 31st Ill. Infantry. He was wounded at Belmont, Mo., but rejoined his company for the siege of Corinth. In Jan. 1862 he removed from Williamson County to Vienna to practice medicine. In 1864 he was elected to the State Legislature.

In 1865, in Calloway County, he was married to Rachel F. Caldwell, b. 1838, d. 1872. He married (2) in 1874 Maria Oliver, b. Johnson County, d. 1884. His third marriage, in April 1886, was to Fanny E. Whitehead in Indiana, Ill.
