Dr. Peter 5 Looney married (4) Mollie Bruce by whom he had no issue.
Tuberville 5 Looney (John 4 Warren, Absalom 3) was born ca1820 in Madison Co., Ala., probably on the 82 acres about 10 miles SW of Huntsville which his father John W. Looney entered in 1818. Tuberville married 3 (or 4) Nov. 1841 in Madison Co., Ala. (Book 4, p. 600, lic. 30 Oct. 1841) Martha H. Bailey daughter of James (will 1843-45) and Sarah F. (Johnston) bailey (d. 12 Oct. 1857) of Marshall Co., Ala.
Tuberville was living at home with his parents in Madison Co., Ala., at the 1840 census. In 1850 he was a farmer living in Madison Co. with no wife and 4 boys. He gave his age as 28. The boys were: William B. Looney 7, James 5, John 3, and Henry 1.

Information of record concerning this family is obtainable from the will of James Bailey Senr. dated 14 Jan. 1843 (Probate Record 10, p. 264, Madison Co., Ala.) and from a suit in Chancery brought in 1873 by the heirs of Martha H. Bailey against the Executor of David Blackburn, decd. (who had m. their aunt Sarah Bailey and with whom they--Martha's heirs, or sons of them-- had lived for some years during their childhood). (Chancery Record O (or C), p. 187; Ala. Archives, V.110.) On these records and on searches by a descendant Frank M. Looney of Athens, Ala., this account is largely based. Tuberville Looney's wife Martha died in 1850 when their son Henry was an infant. Apparently Tuberville did not go to Texas with his father, but in 1850 he left his 4 children with their grandmother and went to Miss. or Texas or both and did not return before 1855 or so, and then only briefly. He then took his eldest son William to Miss. and Texas. At the 1860 census of Goliad Co., Texas, he is listed as T. Looney, Trader, age 40, born Ala., living in a hotel or boarding house. At the same time in the family of his brother A.5 J. Looney, trader, 27, born Ala., one finds W. Looney 17, Trader, born Ala. (also the cousins Tom, Robert T., and Sam Grantland).
Meanwhile, in Madison Co., Ala., grandmother Sarah F. Bailey had custody of the 2 children James B. and Henry H., but John B. was kept by an aunt Elizabeth Smith. After the death of grandma Sarah F. Bailey in 1857, 2 or perhaps 3 of the children were cared for by their aunt Sarah and her husband David Blackburn and were treated as their own children. All three were listed in the Blackburn family in Madison Co., Ala., in 1860.
