Laurana 5 “Raney” Brown Luna (James 4; Peter 3) was born 13 Jan 1810 (Bible Rcds) probably in Sumner County, Tennessee. She was the second-born daughter of James 4 and Mary “Polly” Thomas (Smith) Luna. Lurana married Asa Sanders (b between 1800 and 1810 and d ca 1840) ca 1826 probably in Lincoln County, Tennessee. They moved to Illinois in 1830 and in 1840 they moved again to Van Buren County, Arkansas. After the death of Asa, Lurana married Dempsey Barnes (b ca 1794). Lurana died 13 Aug 1861 according to probate proceedings. She had the following children by her marriage to Asa Sanders:

	James 6 L. Sanders b ca 1827 probably in Tennessee; m (1) Mary Ann Aday and (2)
		Mrs. Susan Murphy Horn.

By her marriage to Dempsey Barnes, Lurana had the following children:

	Nancy 6 E. Barnes b ca 1842; m Matthew W Reid
	Permelia Barnes b ca 1846
	Hiram M. Barnes b ca 1847
Edy Evaline Barnes b 1848; m Jim Lott (Edy and Evaline were names used by John L.
		Sanders, a brother of Asa.)
	Asa L. Barnes b 1851

Note: Dempsey Barnes married his first wife, Polly Sillivent (probably Sullivan), 11 May 1815 in Davidson County, Tennessee. Their descendants say she was born in an Indian Fort ca 1784. Her mother was Perda Hubble, part Cherokee Indian, and her father was an Indian trader. Of further interest is that a James Barnes (possible brother of Dempsey) married Nelly Sanders (possible kin to ASA) in Davidson County in 1812.

Who was John M. Looney of Bienville County, Louisiana, at the 1850 census? The listing was as follows and he lived perhaps not far from Absalom 4 Looney (Benjamin 3) but he was enumerated 11 days before Absalom 4:

Looney, John M	39	Tennessee	Farmer	Real Estate 1,600
	Nancy	37	Tennessee
	William	16	Tennessee	Laborer
	Delany 9	Arkansas	Female
	Martha 7	Louisiana
	John F 5	Louisiana
	Permelia	3	Louisiana

John M. Looney would seem to be of the Fifth Generation and it is tempting to consider a possible relationship between Absalom 4 and John M. Looney. No altogether reasonable connection has been found. (Possibly their wives were related.) Absalom 4 had an older brother, Benjamin 4 Looney, who probably had a son, John 5 Looney, who lived in Franklin County, Tennessee, and was last heard of at the 1830 census there. This John 5 Looney seems not to have been well known to descendants of older sons of Benjamin 4 Looney but the eldest son, David 5 R(eilly?) Looney may be the D. R. Looney who bought land 23 Oct 1835 in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, and sold same 1 Dec 1835. On the other hand the 1830 census of Franklin County, Tennessee, indicates that John 5 Looney who lived there was perhaps a decade older than John M. Looney of Bienbille County, Louisiana. The name Permelia suggests that John M. Looney was son of John 4 C. Looney (Luna) of Marshall County, Tennessee (son of Peter 3 Luna).

Wright 5 Luna (Peter 4; Peter 3) was born ca 1815 either in Sumner County or Lincoln County, Tennessee and was enumerated with his parents in Lincoln County in 1820 and 1830. He is listed in the Marshall County 1840 census as 20/30 with wife of the same age group. The Marshall County census records for 1850 and 1860 shows the family as follows:

	Wright Luna b 1815
Clarissa Luna b 1814 (Inscription in the Old Luna Cemetery birth as 4 December
		1815 and death as 26 December 1863)
	Micajah V. Luna b 1832
	Harriett Luna b 1833
	Elizabeth Luna b 1835
	Emaline Luna b 1836
	Rany C. Luna b 1837
	Adeline Luna b 1840
	Eliza Evaline Luna b 1843
	Mina Alina Luna b 1846
	James Luna b 1848
	Louise Luna b 1851

Jackson 5 Luna (Peter 4; Peter 3) was born in November 1812 probably in Sumner County, Tennessee. He died 19 March 1875 and was buried in the Old Luna Cemetery near Belfast, Tennessee.

The Lincoln County Tennessee census records for 1820 and 1830 indicate that Jackson 5 was living with his parents. Jackson married (1) on 2 August 1832, Nancy Andrews (b 29 September 1817) daughter of James Andrews. Nancy died 19 February 1909 and was also buried in the Old Luna Cemetery. On 30 December 1835, Jackson 5 and Elizabeth Andrews Luna bought 99 acres from Jas. Brooks of Williamson County, Tennessee. This parcel was located near the farm of his brother, James G. Luna, on the waters of West Fork of Cane Creek, which was in Lincoln county in 1835 (Lincoln County Deeds K, p 26). In the 1840 census it is found that Jackson’s land was located in Marshall County due to a boundary change.

The Marshall County Tennessee census records for 1840, 1850 and 1860 agree with the following family information which was furnished by a descendant of this family:

Jackson Luna b November 1812 (Farmer and Mechanic)
	Nancy Luna b 27 September 1817
	William C. A. Luna b 1833
	James M. Luna b 1835
Mary Elizabeth Luna b 14 January 1838; died 6 February 1863 (Old Luna Cemetery)
	Sarah T. Luna b 1839
	Robert H. Luna b 7 September 1842; died 1 February 1863
	Martha E. Luna b 1844
	John M. Luna b 3 March 1847; died 24 November 1915
	Nancy A. Luna b 1849
	Louisa J. Luna b 1852
	Susan J. Luna b 1854
