Madison 5 R. Luna (Peter 4; Peter 3) was born 14 February 1810 in Sumner County, Tennessee and lived with his parents in Lincoln county Tennessee in 1820 and 1830. His whereabouts in 1840 is not known but in 1850 he was living in Lincoln County and had married Fanny ca 1832. She was born 8 June 1812 and died 26 March 1887. Madison died 8 December 1880 and he and his wife, Fanny, are both buried in the Old Luna Cemetery near Belfast, Tennessee.
On 7 February 1842, Madison 5 R. Luna purchased for $200.00 Thirty-nine acres from Nicholas W. Welch on the waters of West Fork Creek of Elk River in Lincoln County, Tennessee (Line Deed N, 268). It should be noted that this land was near that where Madison’s older brothers, Robert 5 and James 5, lived and it is also near that of his younger brother, Jackson 5 Luna. It is because of this deed record that the initial “R” is inserted in Madison’s name.
The family consisted of the following as constructed from census records and a letter from J. D. Looney written in 1925:
Madison R. Luna b 14 February 1810 Fanny Luna b 8 June 1812 Minerva Luna b 1838 Mary Luna b 1833 Robert Luna b 1835 James C. Luna b 1837 Harriet Luna b 1838 Louisa Luna b 1840 William Luna b 1843 John Bunion Luna b 1 December 1845 Madison Luna b 1847 Higgins D. Luna b 1849 End of Page 56
James 5 G. Luna (Peter 4; Peter 3) was born 6 June 1807 in Sumner County Tennessee. He is listed as living with his parents in the 1820 census of Lincoln County Tennessee and in the same county at the 1830 census he is listed as age 20/30 with a wife 15/20 and three duaghters under 5. With them lived an adult male age 20/30 and it is believed this was his wife’s brother.
The conditions were similar in the 1840 census but they lived in Marshall County, which had recently been created from Lincoln County. At this time all three adults were in the same 30/40 age group. The three daughters who were under 5 in 1830 are now. of course, 10/15. Two of these were named in their father’s will as Emeline and Mary. Henry was 5/10 and Susan and Elizabeth were under 5.
The will of James 5 G. Luna was dated 28 July 1846 and was witnessed by C. R. Darnell, Robert Luna and M. V. Luna. He left his property to his wife, Rhoda Luna, for life or widowhood, and $5.00 to each of his children. He died 10 August 1846 and the will was proved 7 September 1846 but Robert Luna was not present (Marshall County Wills Bk. A, p 153).
From Marriage records, his will and the census records of 1850 and 1860, the family has been constructed as follows:
James G. Luna md perhaps ca 1827 Rhoda C. Luna b 18 July 1805; d 1 August 1880 Daughter Luna b ca 1828; gone 1840 Saphronia Luna b 1829; with mother 1860 Emeline Luna b 1830; m James P. In the Old Luna Cemetery one inscription reads as follows: Rhoda C. wife of James G. Luna; b 18 July 1805 and died 1 August 1880. Another gravestone reads: Martha L. Luna, b 25 September 1849 and died 26 October 1865, wife of J. B. Luna, daughter of M. R. and Mary (this may be the wife of John Bunyan Luna, listed above as being born in 1845).

MaCager 5 V. Luna (Peter 4; Peter 3) was born ca 1806 in Sumner County Tennessee and lived with his parents at the 1820 census of Lincoln County Tennessee. In the Giles County Tennessee census of 1830 he is listed as 20/30 with a wife in the same age group and they had two daughters under five. In the 1840 census of the same county he is listed as 30/40 as expected but his wife was in the 20/30 age group. Their two daughters of 1830 were then, of course, in the 10/15 age group and in addition they also had two boys and two girls 5/10 and two boys 0/5.
By 1850, the family had returned to Marshall County Tennessee and from this census it is found that his first wife’s name was Eliza, b 1810 in South Carolina. The two eldest daughters were gone and their names are not known. From the above census records and in particular the Marshall County Tennessee cnesus records for 1850 and 1860, the family has been outlined as follows:
MaCajer V. Luna b 1806 Eliza Luna b 1810 in South Carolina (m ca 1827) Daughter Luna b 1828 Daughter Luna b 1829 Amanda Luna b 1832 Sarah Luna b 1833 Rufus Luna b 1832 Perry Luna b 1834 John Luna b 1836 Peter Luna b 1839 Martha L. On 27 December 1827, at about the time of his marriage and in his 21st year, Micajah 5 V. Looney bought 45 acres on the waters of Cane Creek in Lincoln County Tennessee from Anthony Hogan for $125.00 (Asa Holland, witness; Line Deeds H, 27). It is also noted from records in possession of Marjorie M. Martin, received from a great grand-daughter of his, that his name was actually Micajah Videret Luna.
