SKILL: Advanced Beginner. SIZE: One Size - Triangle 30 (76 cm) deep by 74 (188 cm) wide. MATERIALS: - Lion Brands Chenille Sensations (100% acrylic) 87 yd / 1.4 oz (80 m / 40 g) skeins: 10 skeins Forest Green #131. MACHINE: Any 6.5 mm mid-gauge machine or a Bond ISM 8.0 mm machine. Sample knit on a Studio LK150. GAUGE: Not critical. 17 sts and 30 rows = 4 (10 cm) in diamond pattern. TENSION: T4 for patt st. NOTE: This shawl is also suitable to knit on a Bond ISM using Keyplate 2. Extensions are required to knit on 115 ndls. |
SHAWL BODY
Starting on the L side of ndlbed, CO 4 sts. T4 (Bond Keyplate 2). RC000. K2R. Start following Chart 1, inc 1 st on R edge EOR until 11 diamonds (113 ndls) are in work. Cont following chart, dec 1 st EOR until 4 sts left in WP. BO.
SAWTOOTH TRIM
Chain st CO 10 sts. T4 (Bond Keyplate 2), follow Chart 2 for 21 repeats of pattern. BO. With purl side facing, PU 10 sts along CO edge. Rev Chart 2, repeat for 21 patterns.
FINISHING
Block shawl body and trim, centering CO of trim at point of shawl. Pin trim to shawl edge every 6 (15.24 cm) for markers. T4, CO 4 sts from R to L. K1R. PU EOR on trim (both loops of edge V stitch) and hang on right ndl. Insert trans tool into eyelet on shawl body edge and hang on left ndl. Trans sts per Chart 3. K2R. Cont hanging EOR of trim and eyelets on shawl, adjusting eyelet pickups (i.e.. some eyelets may have more then 1 st in them) between markers to keep flat. Work around shawl edge, following Chart 3 transfers. Using crochet hook, work 2 rows sc across top of shawl.
