Back to TCA Cichlid Tails Page

Hello Everyone!

I guess you all have noticed (at least, I hope you noticed and missed) Cichlid Tails is a little late.  Our hard-working editors had a tragedy in their household – their hard drive passed on, taking with it our Cichlid Tails!  Undaunted, our editors retyped, re-entered, and revived Cichlid Tails as you see it.  Sorry for your loss, Kathy & Marvin, and thanks for getting CT going again!

Thanks to Amy and John Gilliam for hosting our September meeting!  They did a terrific job supplying us with lots of delicious food and beverage, and Diane Stewart told us more than I ever wanted to know about red wigglers!  John has the beginnings of an awesome fish room in his garage.  John, you’ll have to let us come back and visit your fish room when it is finished!

The Fall Workshop was great!  We had a wonderful time listening to our speakers David Soares on apistogrammas and new fish in the hobby, and Paul Turley on photography and catfish.  They inspired and enthused all of us over many, many topics.  It was very interesting and enjoyable.  As for our exhibition, what was only going to be a few display tanks turned into
about eighty!  Many thanks to Page & Coleen, Richard & Amber, and all the folks who helped set up and tear down the exhibition!  It was really great to see so many tanks for an “exhibition”!

The next meeting is the annual Christmas Party at Harrigan’s in Arlington December 7th at 7:30.  Be sure to bring your wrapped fish exchange gift.  We have had a broad variety of fish and fish gifts over the years; you never know what to expect.  And you never know whose fish you can steal this year, maybe paybacks from last year!

Our next BIG EVENT is spring/summer 2003.  The Texas Cichlid Association was founded in 1983 - we have been an outstanding cichlid organization for TWENTY YEARS!!!  To commemorate the anniversary, we are planning a huge convention with many world-renown speakers, manufacturers’ displays, a huge show, and a giant auction!

The celebration is still in the planning stages; tentative dates are in mid-May or early June.  If you have suggestions, please let me know.  We will get flyers and publicity out as soon as possible.  Dig around in your fish stuff; see if you can come up with old photos, Cichlid Tails, or other TCA-related items.  (They are almost antiques now, ya know?)

Only a few weeks until the Christmas Party – hope to see you there!
