Introduction
G.K Chesterton once said that at one point in time "a man was expected to give his reasons for joining the Catholic Church. Today a man is really expected to give his reasons for not joining it." These words from Chesterton point to an interesting fact, that is, why would someone not want to join the Catholic Church? The reasons, of course, are numerous and vary with each individual. One underlying reason is that most people do not know what the Catholic Church is and what it teaches. Therefore, many people who reject Catholicism do not really reject Catholicism. Rather, they reject a false representation of Catholicism. For example, some people may reject Catholicism because Catholics worship Mary or that Catholics have to work their way to heaven. However, these are not valid reasons to reject Catholicism. That is because Catholicism does not teach Mary worship or does not teach salvation solely on the works of a believer. So why is there so much confusion? It is hard to say. One reason may be the lack of faithful Catholics who know their faith and are willing to share their faith with other people. Gospel Truth ministries is dedicated to help Catholics develop a deep knowledge and love for their faith. Many times, Catholics are vigorously challenged about their faith and are forced to answers questions by skeptics. Frequently, these challenges come from non-Catholic Christians who share many truths with Catholics, but also differ greatly in other matters. The purpose of this ministry is to equip Catholics with solid answers to common objections raised by non-Catholic Christians. By answering these objections, the Catholic fulfills the command given by the Apostle Peter to "Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope but do it with gentleness and reverence" ( 1 Peter 3:15-16).
If you are a Catholic, we hope that you find this ministry helpful and encouraging. If you are not Catholic, we welcome you and thank you for visiting us. In either case, we hope that you are able to learn more about Jesus Christ and his Church.
