Please Support Our Advertisers Cellular phones are nothing more than radio transceivers that were made to look and act like telephones. The "dumbed down" public was brain washed into believing that these neat looking devices are just like that phone in the home, but this one has a battery, no wires, and can be taken in the car with you. Next, a "dumbed down" person (not knowing what a radio is) found out that other people (with scanners) can listen to the phone conversation. The news media heard about this and all hell broke lose!!! First of all, I don't consider it "listening in on a phone conversation", I view it as receiving a radio signal floating around in free space. It is not a scrambled signal, it is not encrypted in any way, and that signal HIT my antenna! I didn't take my antenna and swing it around the room trying to hit a cellular radio signal!!! How did the cellular phone industry get laws passed so quickly to make it illegal to listen in? Who's pockets were lined with money to see this bill was passed so quickly. Don't you feel that laws in the United States of America are being sponsored and passed based on MONEY and not on LOGIC??? Personally I don't see why people monitor cell phone conversations, as I would think the would be rather boring. Even when you would hear a good conversation starting, they get moved to a new cell site and you probably would loose the conversation. I would think monitoring cordless phone could turn more interesting. Because of their limited range, these are going to be your neighbors talking about other neighbors or talking about YOU... And since the "cordless phone association" doesn't have tons of money to throw at government, I don't think these frequencies will soon be banished from our scanners..... Does anyone else feel as if the United States Constitution has been sold to the highest bidder? Feel free to Email me your views.

Opposing View From JPNOLL@aol.com on May 22, 1999 Your web page on Public safety has a post about Cellular Phone eavesdroppong. I think it says "Cellular Phones S*** and deserve to be listened to" It it a violation to listen to a conversation between two individuals on either Cordless or Cellular phones. I recommend that you remove this post immediatley or I will follow a copy of it to the nearset FBI office. You have been warned! Yes, this was an email I received from JPNOLL@aol.com. I sent him my home phone number but I truly doubt he'll give me a call
