James Philip Shero, 65, died peacefully on Friday, May 23rd, 2008, surrounded by his family. He battled cancer for 2½ years with great peace and courage, being sustained by his faith, the great love of his family, and the prayers of many friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Jim attended Rice University on a football scholarship & graduated with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1970. He worked 34 years in the computer industry, beginning his career at Texas Instruments in Houston and retiring from Compaq/HP, also in Houston. He was thankful to have so many colleagues get in touch with him while he was sick.

Jim was committed to his faith. He served as deacon in several churches beginning at Willow Meadows Baptist Church, Houston and, most recently, at Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church. He was also a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Carmen, son Eric & his wife Michelle, daughter, Stacy Lindborg & her husband Johan. He remains deep in their hearts. He has 3 grandchildren, Riley & Reagan Shero, & Emma Lindborg. They were his constant delight and he cherished the time spent with them.
