Quality Arabian, Half-Arabian and Pinto horses
Owners Rusty and Martin Cook established Caballos del Sol with the "merger" of two existing horse breeding operations in August of 1993. Located in the beautiful south valley area of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Caballos del Sol focused their breeding program around the chestnut Arabian stallion Wild Flame . He consistently produced beautiful athletes with long legs, long necks, typey Arabian heads, and less white than their dams. They are mostly chestnut with 3 or 4 socks and a star or blaze. Both his Purebred and Half-Arabian foals are stamped with his beauty, and have his outstanding disposition. The loss of Wild Flame in the spring of 2000 was a blow to the program but two gorgeous chestnut fillies arrived in 2001 to carry on his legacy. Now three-year-olds, they are being started under saddle and will make their debuts in the show ring this year, first in the New Mexico Halter Futurity, and then in the performance arena.
This Arabian breeding program has always been small in scale but has produced horses who have been very successful in the show ring. The first was Sun Danser who was named Region 8 Champion Working Hunter, National Top Ten Working Hunter, and National Champion Purebred Jumper! He was also a champion in open jumping against all breeds. Magik Flame won the title of Region 8 Champion in Show Hack. Both of these fine geldings were half brothers to Wild Flame. His full sister, Flames Carousel, was Scottsdale Top Ten in Halter as a two-year-old in a class of 93 gorgeous fillies. She won a Most Classic Arabian title before retiring to the broodmare band. At the age of 23 she continues to be a pleasure riding horse at Caballos del Sol. The Wild Flame daughter Flaming Roses was named Region 8 Top Five Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr. Horse in 1999, and her full sister, Frost 'n Flame, was Region 18 (Canada) Champion Yearling Half-Arabian filly in 2000, and will soon be shown in Hunter Over Fences. In addition to their show ring success, all are outstanding all-around family pleasure horses, and all except Frost 'n Flame (who was sold as a weanling) won their New Mexico Halter Futurity classes. background and accessories
