The World's Colombian Exposition, Chicago.
May 1 to October 30, 1893.

My great grandfather, Jeremiah Sample, along with thousands of other men worked to build the exposition.

His pass to work in the exposition was given to me three years ago. Here is a picture of the pass and midway.

The main interest at the fair was the Midway, with its Irish Village, its Hindu Jugglers, its Ferris Wheel (the first one ever built), the Village of the South Sea Islanders, Old Vienna, its Wild West Show, Algerian Theater, Colorado Mining Company exhibit and the Notorious Cairo Street.

Flo Ziegfeld was beginning his career as a showman and Little Egypt danced in what was called "a shockingly interesting way."

This was 400-years after the landing of Columbus in the Bahamas that America celebrated her achievements on the Chicago Lake Front.
