Joe "J.R." Bright, 78, a Locomotive Engineer, died Friday, June 19, 1998, in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, in Acton Cemetery.

Joe "J.R." Bright was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Fort Worth. He was a member of The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Martha; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Nina Bright of Fort Worth; grandsons, Stephen Bright of St. Helena, Calif., and Eric Bright of Dallas; sisters, Marguerite Davenport of Fort Worth and Helen Arbuthnot of San Angelo; and several nieces and nephews.
