This 13 y/o female presented to the ER complaining of left wrist pain after playing volleyball. AP and LAT x-ray images of the left wrist and right wrist shown above demonstrate Madelung's deformity. Because of the lack of a family history of bone disorders we are unsure whether this is secondary to hereditary multiple exostosis or idiopathic. Given the sex of the patient, the disparity of involvement comparing right and left, the lack of other skeletal abnormalities and lack family history this may be the idiopathic variety.
