This 51 y/o male with a history of chronic renal failure presented with a complaint of some difficulty with walking. He had been experiencing upper back pain for the past 2-3 weeks. A chest x-ray showed some vertebral endplate & disk destruction and MRI with gadolinium enhancement revealed findings consistent with an epidural abscess. Emergency surgery yielded Staphylococcus aureus on cultures of the epidural abscess.
