Funeral Interments

Almost 10 years ago we received a new Rite of Christian Funerals in the Church.  It has truly been a wonderful way of ministering to those who are hurting at the time of the death of a loved one.  It was from this new rite that we (many parishes including our own) expanded and changed how we approached the death of a member of the Community.  One of the changes that occurred was the ability of a layperson to preside over the interment at the cemetery.  This opened the doors for more people to participate in the ministry to the bereaved.

As some of you know, we have a man in the parish that is in formation to be ordained a Deacon.  Bob Lydon has completed 2 years of a 4-year program and will this weekend begin his 3rd year.  Part of his formation will be to preside at the interment of funerals in our parish.  I have spoken and worked with him and I am confident that he will do well in this new ministry he will be taking on.  Both Deacon Steven and I will be supervising him and helping him in doing this.  It is important to be aware that we will be doing this in the parish.  If you have questions or concerns feel free to speak with either Deacon Steven or myself about this.

“Come to me all who are weary…and I will refresh you.”  Matthew 11:28
Bills!  Work!  The Kids!  Caring for an Elderly Parent!  We spend so much of our time attending to the demands of our daily life that often times it is difficult to find the time we need to focus on our walk with Christ, and on our marriage.  If we could just find a moment to catch our breath, take a break, to reflect, to heal, and to renew, what a difference it would make!  Well, here is your opportunity.
Marriage Encounter provides you and your spouse a weekend of solitude, reflection, and personal conversation with each other and with Christ.  Take a weekend to discuss the things you feel you need to talk about but haven’t had the chance to say, or maybe you’re just not sure how to say it.  It is a  weekend that can help you to better understand where your spouse is at in their life.
Renew your love for each other, heal each other, comfort each other, and feel the presence of Christ in your marriage.  The weekend has the potential to be a miraculous and healing experience for you both.  You will communicate in ways, and at a level, that you may never have before.  Learn communication techniques you can use the rest of your married life.
The next Marriage Encounter weekend will be held on September 21, 22, and 23, in Albuquerque at the Madonna Center.  Don’t be left out, register early.  Call our reservation couple, Rick and Janet Olmsted, at (505) 255-4425 today!

Gentle Bulletin Messages…
…on Parish Responsibilities
Jesus says in today’s gospel reading that none of us can become His disciples if we do not give up all our possessions.  Jesus is not asking for money --- He is saying that we must make a radical decision.  The Church has a responsibility to talk about money to remind us of the practical implications this decision has on our daily lives.  To pick up our cross and follow Him…this is what stewardship is all about.

Mensajes Sencillos Sobre…Nuestras
Responsabilidades Parroquiales…
