LIFE CHAIN '98

LIFE CHAIN PURPOSE LIFE CHAIN will provide a visual statement of solidarity by our local Christian community that abortion is wrong and we oppose this unmerciful killing of unborn children. A estimated 1.5 million babies are killed annually in America (90,000 in Texas) by abortion. In areas consistently standing in LIFE CHAINS, reported abortions have decreased, or even stopped. We will prayerfully hold signs that read: "Jesus Heals and Forgives" "Adoption, A Loving Option" "Abortion Kills Children"

OUR POSITION AGAINST VIOLENCE We oppose any form of violence in the name of Pro Life and believe the very term is the antithesis of violence. As Christians, we are called to abhor the sin of abortion, yet to love all of God's people. This is not a love that overlooks wrong. Rather, it recognizes the worth of every individual. Christ died for the born and the unborn. If we offer violence and hatred, how are we any different than the rest of the world? If we, instead, offer the love of Christ, then we give our enemies a glimpse of God. "Shouldn't we all take a strong stand against abortion?" Of course! And to Pro-Lifers around the country, the violence at clinics is sickening. Yet that violence no more negates the moral wrong of abortion than the violence of the civil War negated the moral wrong of slavery. As long as innocent human beings are being legally killed in the nation, the Pro-Life movement will fight for their right to life - please do it peacefully.

A SPECIAL THANKS Being Pro-Life can occasionally cause some awkward feelings and situations. Speaking for the unborn requires a bit of courage. Thank you for standing up for what you believe and , as a result, saving lives...one by one!

Abortion is painfully, violently taking the lives of thousands of American children each month and leaving thousands of mothers with their physical health damaged, their emotional health diminished, and their spiritual health devastated. Their fate is in our hands, and we must answer the call to pray for them.
