San Antonio Nightmare was formed in 1997. The team is comprised of players
from in and around the San Antonio area. It is designated as a 501 (c)
(3) non-profit organization .
Since its beginning,
Nightmare has found success on the ball diamond. Major accomplishments
are as follows:
- Texas Amateur Athletic Federation
(TAAF) State Champions in the 10 & Under Division (1997)
- State Runner-up in TAAF's 12 &
Under "B" Division (1998)
- Third Place in the American
Fastpitch Association (AFA) 12 & Under Nationals "A"
Division (1999)
- Qualified for the AFA 14 & Under
Nationals "A" Division by placing first in area national
qualifiers (2000 & 2001).
Nightmare
is dedicated to preparing its players for the next level of softball.
To achieve this, parents must be supportive of their daughters.
Constant encouragement is necessary whether one's daughter plays a great or
not so great game. Of course, constructive criticism is at times
necessary and appropriate, especially when it involves life's lessons over
those of the game.
Coaches must recognize that while winning is a goal, it is secondary
to the ideals of sportsmanship, player development and citizenship. After
all, what is the benefit of winning, if coaches fail to teach proper and safe
techniques, fail to afford players playing opportunities or fail to treat or
discipline all players alike be they the most or least talented.
Players must commit to the sport and play hard. When players of
similar ability and skill compete for a position, sometimes the one who wins
the position is not necessarily the most talented, but rather the one who
plays the hardest.
And above all Nightmare players and fans alike must view the game as
a game, not a war, and always with a sense of respect for self and others.
Win with class, lose with dignity -- RESPECT THE OPPOSITION.
Let's have some fun
and Play Ball.
