In the beginning the church numbered about 35 persons and was overseen by a special committee of the OPC. In June, 1995, Rev. Bruce Hollister was formally installed as the organizing pastor of the church. Since that time God has graciously added many to our number who desire preaching and teaching with real biblical substance and substantial worship that has not been overrun with the entertainment orientation so common in our day. Our Vision New Covenant Community Church is committed to the fulfillment of the Great Commission of Jesus found in Matthew 28:19-20. We desire to bring the "good news" of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible, and then to faithfully teach the entire Bible to those whom God is pleased to add to His church. We believe this commission is faithfully carried out when a church is committed to thinking "generationally" about its opportunities and its responsibility before God. We seek to be committed to our Lord for "the long run" by giving careful attention to the foundation that we establish now. We seek to build a church that is aware of its responsibility before God to our children and our children's children. We believe that only by a careful biblical watchfulness can we expect to see a church established that will endure, by the strength of God, across generations to come. We believe that "unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1), and that the only way God builds is through the faithful preaching and teaching of the Gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that any so-called "growth" brought about by alternate tools or methods is not true growth. "Weeds" grow very quickly. We are interested in "oaks." In other words, vital to the fulfillment of a biblical vision for ministry is the belief that the Scriptures are indeed alone sufficient for all things pertaining to life and godliness, and we seek to establish a ministry ever guided by this conviction. Our Leadership New Covenant Community Church is governed by a "Session" of Elders. The Session makes decisions regarding the operation of the church. Additionally, the local Session is under the oversight of the local Presbytery who in turn is under the oversight of the General Assembly. (To learn more about our church government please see What is the OPC? ) If you would like to contact Pastor Hollister or one of the Session members please feel free to contact them at the numbers listed below.
