  Features
  • Microcontroller Automated
  • Unique Sensing Technology
  • Simple and Compound Joints
  • Simple Set-up and Operation
  • Objective Measurement
  • Short Duration Test Protocols

The HPM APM I Portable Electronic Goniometer is the first in our planned line of "Advanced Performance Meters." The APM I is a stand-alone angle measurement instrument designed to provide quick and accurate measures of extremes and/or ranges of motion for most joints of the human body. This portable hand-held unit contains both the angle sensor and an LCD display in a single lightweight package. The convenience of one-hand operation allows the user to focus on the subject rather than the instrument. Simply align the APM I with the desired body segment and push a button in the initial and final joint positions. There are no wires or other components to get in the way and the measured angle appears right on the instrument. It is completely self-contained.

The APM I was designed to not only replicate but improve upon the functions of the Cybex EDI 320 (no longer available). It can be used in any application that is appropriate for the EDI 320 (e.g., disability determination, fitness evaluation, etc.) as well as many that could not be considered with a standard goniometer. Roughly the size of the hand-held component of the EDI 320, the APM I offers significant design improvements over the Cybex device that extend its capabilities and make certain range of motion measurements even easier. Based on breakthrough sensing technology research carried out at the University of Texas at Arlington's Human Performance Institute, value-added features include:

The APM I is capable of measuring single joint motion as well as breaking down gross motion (e.g., trunk flexion) into its components. No other joint angle measurement system can offer the versatility, convenience, and value of the APM I.
