Child Development

The Elemental Resource Model provides a robust framework within which to understand the child development process. The key issues are:

In clinical applications, these issues require baseline testing and periodic follow-up, with comparison of results to established norms. Databases which we have available for children are currently limited. However, we can provide the guidance to assist with development of appropriate reference databases.

In research applications, experimental designs usually incorporate a control group. Therefore, reference databases are not required.

Application Recommendation

The BEP I (essential) and BEP II (optional) are the recommended measurement tools. The was designed to stress and measure performance resources that support cognitive functioning and motor control. A screening protocol requires 10-20 min. (depending on measures selected). Comprehensive workups require 20-45 min. The BEP II (lower extermity motor control) is recommended for research studies and more comprehensive proflining.
