INTRODUCTION The idea was born in the Monday night beaders' chat at Emily's TMC site (now About.com). Shala had posted a free pattern on her website of a witch flying across the moon. She had received e-mail from someone who thought she might be stereotyping witches. Shala wanted to know what we thought. Being a socially conscious, and fairly kind bunch of beadaholics of every spiritual inclination, a lively discussion arose about things witchy. Naturally, someone wondered aloud if anyone had ever beaded a broom (I think it was me, but in a raucous chat like that, I am never quite sure...). Everyone thought a beaded broom sounded like a grand idea! We decided to use the smaller, craft brooms because we couldn't decide (to put it politely) who would get to keep a kitchen size, round robin broom. Shala coordinated the event, and some of us actually beaded brooms! A few of us had to drop out along the way, but we still consider them part of the spirit of the swap. Many thanks to Emily for providing a forum where creativity can flourish! --blessed beading, everyone, |
