SKILL: Intermediate. SIZE: S (M, L). Finished measurements: chest 38.4 (40.8, 43.2) / 97.5 (103.6, 109.7) cm; MATERIALS: - Classic Elites Provence (100% cotton) 256 yd / 4.4 oz (233 m / 125 g) skeins - 3 skeins Blue (MC) - 3 skeins Cream (CC). MACHINE: Any 6.5 mm mid-gauge with intarsia carr. Sample knit on a Studio LK140. GAUGE: 32.4 sts and 33 rows = 4 (10 cm) in Cabled Intarsia Patt. TENSION: T5 for Cabled Intarsia Patt. T3 for reformed rib. NOTE: 1) Block swatch as per finishing instructions for accurate gauge. 2) Cable Intarsia Patt: *K3R. Make 4-st Right Cable as shown in diagram over all CC groups of ndls. K3R. Make 4-st Right Cable over all MC groups of ndls.* Repeat from * to *. 3) Armhole Dec: To create MC band at armhole edge, FF dec using 6 edge sts by PU 6 edge sts using two 3-prong tools and moving these 6 sts in one ndl. When dec, include ndls in NWP. Cont MC cable patt on these 6 sts. |
BODY
Make two. Wind 14 separate balls of MC and 13 separate balls of CC for Cabled Intarsia Patt. Pull 138 ndls (for all sizes) to HP. E-Wrap CO: Beg at L and with MC, e-wrap CO on 1 ndl, return next ndl to NWP; then e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP. **With separate ball of CC, e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP. With separate ball of MC, e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP.** Repeat from ** to ** ending with MC, e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP; then e-wrap CO on 1 ndl. COR. Set up for intarsia. RC000, T5. Begin Cabled Intarsia Patt. K in patt to RC106. Armhole Shaping: Begin FF dec 1 st both sides as per instructions in NOTE EOR to RC166. At the same time at RC154 (154, 160) begin Neck Shaping: Set carr to hold. COR. Put all sts L and 25 sts R of -0- to HP, KWK. At neck edge put 4 sts to HP, KWK 1x; then 2 sts to HP, KWK 1x; then 1 st to HP, KWK 1x. RC164 - 6 sts of MC armhole band in WP (over 8 ndls with 2nd ndl from ea edge in NWP). Cont in patt to RC186. Remove onto WY. Repeat for opp shoulder, rev shaping. BO neck sts in patt. On wrong side of garment, latch tool ladders formed by ndl in NWP from bottom edge of garment to top by PU heels of MC and CC alternately then, secure with yarn tails at top.
SIDE PANELS
Make two. Wind 3 (4, 5) separate balls of CC and 1 (2, 3) separate balls(s) of MC for Cabled Intarsia Patt. Pull 18 (28, 38) ndls to HP. E-Wrap CO: Beg at L and with CC, e-wrap CO on 1 ndl, return next ndl to NWP; then e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP. ***With separate ball of MC, e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP. With separate ball of CC, e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP.*** Repeat from *** to *** ending with CC, e-wrap CO over next 4 ndls, return next ndl to NWP then e-wrap CO on 1 ndl. COR. Set up for intarsia. RC000, T5. Begin cable patt. K to RC106. BO in patt. Repeat latched ladders on wrong side as for body.
FINISHING
To form slightly scalloped edge at bottom of garment, weave yarn ends from CO edge through latched ladders about 1 (2.5 cm) then pull tightly and secure. Wet garment pieces thoroughly. With iron on highest setting and on wrong side, press down hard on garment pieces. Let dry. Join side panels to front and back pieces. Join both shoulder seams. Weave in loose ends. Front Neck Rib: With wrong side facing, rehang front neck edge over 72 ndls. T3, K20R. Beginning at second st from L edge, ****drop st for 12 rows; then reform st with latch tool over these 12 rows.**** Repeat from **** to **** on EON to form 1x1 rib. BO loosely. Back Neck Rib: Repeat as for front neck rib. Seam back and front neck ribs tog making sure seam does not show when rib is folded to right side. Fold rib to rightside and sew to garment. Lightly steam rib.
