Quick Stats - I'm 27, male, hetro, college student, and work in tech support
for a
'Net service provider.
My hobbies include reading, writing (poetry and short story), programming,
blacksmithing,
making chainmail,
religious and historical study, RPGs, and just plain designing and building stuff, whether
it be electronics, metalwork, or whatever.
I'm an orange belt in TaeKwonDo, and have done some study in WinChun, Tai Chi Chuan, and
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu sword forms. In addition, I've done some training with
SCA and would love to be more of a part of it (but I work
weekends
).
My take on life is that there is no true purpose in life other than the biological
imperitives of survival and improvement. So, rather than try and pontificate on esoteric
matters I rather focus on living, loving, and learning. I believe that as social animals
we are responsible to each other to help as needed, and to give each other space to grow
and play.
I have been described as a 'healer' and I think that is a big part of who I am. I am driven
to help and heal all those around me. I think that by healing others, we heal ourselves.
For all my "peace, love and all that groovy shit" attitudes, I am also very scientific and
mechanically oriented. I love finding out how the world works. To me, the thing that most sets
us apart as humans is the word "WHY." Nothing fascinates me more than the "unsolved mysteries"
of our times, whether it be in the world of quantum mechanics (I love multidimensional theory!)
or magick (I see magick as no more "unnatural" than an electron's orbit), or uncovering facts
about where we've been (and thus know where we're going).
Politically, I believe that the government has two purposes - protecting individual rights and
holding common goods (roads, education, utilities, etc). I believe our government has a lot of
potential for being the best in the world, but that we as the voters let sneaks and morons gain
power because we're apathetic and they often offer "quick fix" solutions. Folks, we can solve
a lot of this country's problems, but it's going to take more than one session of congress.
VOTE!!! How more direct can I be? VOTE!!! and get involved. Especially at the local level.
Attend a city council meeting and watch just what goes on there. This sounds corney, but one
person CAN make a difference. All you have to do is give a damn.
Religiously, I am a Wiccan, but I lean towards a more esoteric experience, mixing many different
traditions in my understanding of and celebrating the universe. More info can be found in my
religion page.
