
During 1996 - 1997 the Carrollton Evening Lions continued its active support of
the Community and of Lions activities at the District, State and International level.
Numerous Lions served in District level positions and several served at the State
level. Our Club continued its support of local and Lions Charities and added a few
new ones.
This past year, like those before it and those to come, was one
of Service. Our Club, like all Lions Clubs, has a committment to service. The Lions
of the Carrollton Evening Lions Club are proud to say "We Serve!".
Lion Stefanie served as Vice President of District 2-X1 Executive Council.
The Club sponsored eye exams & glasses for Bea's Kids.
Club members assisted the Senior Adult Services Center with upgrading its computers.
Lions Jay, John, Dale & Brian attended the LWSB Annual Visiting Lions Week in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Club members worked the District 2-X1 Low Vision Clinic 2 times.
The Club held a successful Annual Children's Film Festival.
The Club held a successful Annual Garage Sale on the Square in Old Downtown Carrollton.
The Club participated in the Carrollton Country Fair with its Corny Dog and Stomp the Frog Booths.
Lions in our Club served on the Boards of the Sight & Tissue Foundation, Julien C. Hyer Youth Camp and Shadow Children Foundation.
The Club sponsored a family in the Family Pathfinders Program.
Club members delivered holiday baskets for the Metrocrest Service Center.
Club members worked at the Metrocrest Santa Store.
Three new Lions joined the Club and one Lion transferred into the Club.
The Club was a 100% Club in its donations to Lions Clubs Charities.
Club members attended every Cabinet Meeting, the Mid-Winter Conference, the District Convention and the State Convention.
The Club elected a Grass Root Lion.
Three Lions received Key Member awards.
The Club produced a monthly newsletter.
Club members collected and recycled hundreds of pounds of aluminum cans.
The Club supported, through donations and participation in fund raisers, the Ryan Foundation for MPS research.
Club members collected thousands of pairs of used eyeglasses.
Club members sold in excess of 100 Passbooks.
Club members attended the Officer Training and Leadership Forums, the Humanitarian of the Year Award Dinner and the USA/Canada Forum.
The Club awarded a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Texas Lions Foundation Fellow, a Jack Weich Fellow and13 Life Memberships in Lions Charities to Club Members.
The Lions of the Carrollton Evening Lions Club, along with the other Lions of District 2-X1, elected Lion Dale Massey as Governor of District 2-X1.
The Club awarded a Life Membership in Lions Clubs International to Lion District Governor Dale Massey.
