2. James² Gowdy (Simon¹) was born before 1720 in Massachusetts.¹ He married Mary Hutchinson on 21 January 1730/31 in Massachusetts.² He died before 1765 in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.³

Appeared in Boston before 1730. Had charge of a sawmill in Medford, Massachusetts in 1744. He emigrated in 1752 to Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut.²

The five known children of James² Gowdy and Mary Hutchinson were as follows:

• + 6. i. James³ Gowdy, born before 1734 in Medford or Boston, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; married Anne Collins.

• 7. ii. John Gowdy was born circa 1734 in Massachusetts.¹ He died on 14 May 1744 in Connecticut; A log rolled on him.

  Baptized in Boston, Massachusetts, July 20, 1734. Was killed in a sawmill accident when a log rolled over him.

• + 8. iii. Samuel Gowdy Sr., married Abiah Pease.

• 9. iv. Alexander Gowdy was born circa 1741 in Massachusetts.¹

• 10. v. Mary Gowdy was born on 15 December 1744 in Massachusetts.¹

3. Hill² Gowdy (Simon¹) was born circa 1720 in Massachusetts.¹ He married Sarah Swain circa 1743. He died before 1747 in Massachusetts.

He worked as a gardner.

The only known child of Hill² Gowdy and Sarah Swain was:
