Art Therapy is an excellent modality for seeking personal improvement regardless of your artistic skill. Creative expression develops ego strength. When we know and understand ourselves, we are better able to deal with the stress that enters our life.

Artistic expression exercises the creative right hemisphere of our brain. This process can build "bridges" to the left hemisphere, offering a different approach to achieving better communication. Exercising our creative side enhances our analytic side. This balanced approach to personal growth and education will create the great inventors and thinkers of tomorrow's society.

Art Therapy benefits people with long-term needs by helping them gain mastery in the following areas:

+artistic expression

+boundary establishment

+drawing & handwriting skills

+emotional improvement

+fine & gross motor skills

+perception & cognition

+sensory integration

+social change

+spiritual development

+sublimate behavior issues

Art Therapy, also, supports and nurtures those experiencing a temporary crisis -- divorce or illness in the family, adoption, loss of a loved one, family relocation, difficulty in school. Through the use of art materials, the individual can express emotions, learn to deal with them and then be freed to return to a normal routine.

All individuals can work through their feelings and resolve personal issues in a secure "holding environment" created by the therapist. In Art Therapy, the individual learns to understand him/herself more fully and improve communication skills with their family and friends.
