On behalf of SFWoE, I thank you for taking the time and effort to enter our contest. Together, I feel that we met the contest goal: To promote the art of SF/F short story writing. Our judge, author Edward Bryant, and I are pleased to congratulate you on a writing task well done.
The First Place Winner of the 2007 SFWoE Contest is Jonna Lasker. Jonna is from Palmer, AK USA. The contestants who wrote their way onto the SFWoE 2007 Top Ten List represent three countries:  Australia, Canada, and the United States. Congratulations to all of the 2007 top ten contestants.
The 2007 SFWoE SF/F Short Story Contest received 132 entries submitted by 83 contestants. Contest entries were submitted from eight countries. Sixty USA writers submitted a total of 91 stories. Thirteen contestants in Australia entered a total of 17 stories. Four Canadians sent in 11 stories. Two stories were received from a writer in England. A contestant from France also sent in 2 stories. Two contestants from Germany submitted a total of 5 stories. A contestant in Italy sent in 2 stories. A writer from Switerland also submitted 2 stories.
Again this year, SFWoE plans to place the winning story (with the author's permission) on the SFWoE Website. Author Edward Bryant (Judge of the SFWoE Contest) is writing an introduction and SFWoE hopes to have an illustration by Keith Demanche available to place online with the story. SFWoE is working to have the story online by late March or in April along with reviews of the top stories and contestant interviews.
The SFWoE Staff in Fort Worth wishes to thank the contestants who wrote letters or sent e-mail over the past year for their kind words. If you send an e-mail to SFWoE, please place the word "contest" in your subject. We receive over a hundred junk e-mails a day and the word contest will keep us from accidently deleting your message.
Sincere thanks to all the contestants for supporting our annual contest. Also, thanks to Picaro Press for offering the Australian Grant Program to our friends Down Under. Again, congratulations to the winners.
