SSAC Liquid Level Controls are used to detect and/or control levels of liquids that are electrically conductive; they have an electrical resistance value between 0 to 250,000 ohms.
One or more electrodes are installed in a container (tank) at a position or length to detect one or more levels of liquid. The SSAC control then measures and responds to the resistance between the probes or the probe(s) and the container. The output of the control can be used to energize a pump or valve to raise or lower the level in the tank.
There are several important elements to consider when selecting a liquid level control.
1. Electrical Isolation: SSAC controls incorporate a stepdown transformer that provides low voltage at the probes plus a high dielectric between the AC line and probes. All SSAC Liquid Level Controls are UL and CSA recognized.
2. Electrolysis: All SSAC Liquid Level Controls supply a low voltage alternating current to the probes. AC voltage on the probes helps prevent electrolysis. Some competitor's controls use a direct current to detect the presence of the liquid. Over a period of time, deposits will form on the probe (electrode) causing the resistance between the probes to gradually increase. Eventually the resistance becomes too high and the liquid level control cannot operate properly.
3. Quality: SSAC's modern manufacturing facilities and quality control programs ensure that the product you receive will operate properly and continue to operate for many years. All SSAC Liquid Level Controls are made in the U.S.A.
