The leader of the Rugburns and Jewel collaborator is a very gifted songwriter who can write up a song on the spot. This lo-fi CD contains 60 songs he has written when he's most personal and open: when he's at home recording his answering machine messages. $10 |
||
Contains 12 songs of high powered rock 'n roll plus covers of the Texas Tornadoes, True Believers, and Joan Jett. Don't listen to me on this one, take the critic's word for it: "This CD by far is one of the best releases I've ever heard in my lifetime. This is no exaggeration" --Under The Volcano "Punk with a real honest roots feeling. This might be what the Heartbreakers would have sounded like if they were from SoCal and Johnny had just kicked." --Maximumrocknroll "Enter the Dragons, but move out of the way...the album's 12 songs aim to deaden life's woes not wallow in them. Pain Killer has the sweet taste of a dentist's injection and twice the sting." -- San Diego Union Winner of the 1996 "Best Rock Album" in the San Diego Music Awards. $10 |

BRA003: |
Dragons/C.L.A. "Pretty Ugly" split LP |
Limited to only 230 copies, this "bootleg" features numbered, handmade covers and was recorded on a 4-track without either band's knowledge on a very drunken night. The Dragons play high powered music that is best described as having the rock 'n roll of the New York Dolls and vintage Stones, the catchiness of the Replacements, and the energy of Rocket From The Crypt. Seven songs including a smokin' cover of "All Down The Line" by the Rolling Stones. Maximumrocknroll described C.L.A. as "acoustic minimalist punk scuz with good songs". Maybe C.L.A. was a little sloppier and noisier with their acoustic guitars than usual because of their drunkenness, and I don't think they're "minimalist", but they are definitely pop geniuses and have a knack for writing great songs. Includes a cover of the Who's "Gypsy Acid Queen". SOLD OUT |
These San Diegan boys have long since broken up, but their legacy as hard rockin' power hitters continues with their cover of "Free Ride" by the Edgar Winter Group. The B-side's a loud, rockin' original called "Everything". $3 |
