Temper Temper was a Dallas, Texas rock band. Temper performed original music (no covers) in clubs during 1986 and 1987. The band recorded several professional audio tapes and was interviewed on KZEW radio.

This Temper Temper Homepage is on the internet because Temper was a great band. Temper had fans, a unique sound, and we had Good Days. I'll post as many .WAVs as I can (web space permitting). People regularly ask me for replacement Temper tapes because they've played the original tapes to death. Well, now I can suggest downloading the songs here. Also, this page will give me a chance to introduce new people to Temper, and who knows where that will lead. If this is the first time you have heard of Temper Temper, please say hello, here.

I own a small library of audio tapes which represent Temper at every stage of development, including:

Professional demo tapes

Music from bandmember's other bands

Personnel changes / varying styles

Multitrack practice tapes

Video performances

I also have most of the photographs, artwork, bumper stickers, and flyers produced by Temper during its existence. My goal is to transfer our audio and images to CD-ROM as soon as possible and preserve them since time is taking its toll on the photos and audio cassettes. Some recordings are out of tune, or in early stages "only a mother could love." Well, I DO love this music in all its forms. I want to preserve Temper Temper's outstanding history, and also provide a starting point for my future recordings.

I apologize for the egocentrism, but here it must be done: I wrote some of Temper Temper's music existed as early as 1981. I wrote songs that were recorded by The Potentials (and in every combination of Potentials line-ups) and finally Temper. The music evolved with time: as I polished it and more competent musicians refined the individual instrument compositions. My songwriting experience goes beyond Temper Temper in both directions - before Temper there was The Potentials, and after Temper (while in the Navy) I still wrote music. Now I have left the Navy and sometimes consider re-building a band in Dallas. So even though Temper Temper was a wonderful adventure, I can't refer to it as "all history", because music didn't stop in 1987. Only Temper stopped, when I left for the Navy. This distinction, separating my songwriting from my ex-band, is hard to describe. Especially considering how good Temper bandmembers were for my songs.

Although I was the primary songwriter in Temper Temper, I wasn't the only songwriter. I'll list the composer credits whenever I provide .WAV files (ask me for one!). I don't know what other uses Frank and Duane's songs are performing now, but their Temper stuff is included on this page, as it should be.

There were minor variances in personnel during Temper Temper's lifespan. I won't list everyone who played in or knew the band, unless this becomes an issue. The photos will reflect personnel changes well enough. However, we MUST mention Mike Glanton and Kevin O'Donnell here, since they were hardworking Temper personnel (guitar and bass, respectively) and we couldn't have kept up our live gigging schedule without them. Kevin, where the hell are you now?

If you want to know more about Temper Temper, please drop me a line. I don't know what the Internet interest level will be for the old band, but I could build a more complete history, lyrics or FAQ if there's enough demand for it.

SOUNDS

I am pleased to announce the resurrection of Temper Temper's online download area. Not long ago, my .WAV sound files were too damn large to store and maintain. The recent development of .MP3 format files is far more efficient. If you don't have an MP3 player, you're screwing up. My recommendation is WinAmp. It's free, and you can download it here!

A Deeper Well

Beautiful, in-living-room 4 track version. First day this song was presented to the band.

The song is "a little rough" but the instrumental stuff at the end is my favorite version of this song.
