September 6, 1999
We can't wish you Happy Birthday today or share your favorite cake (Red Velvet) with you!  But we can share memories of you with each other and know that you are in a place where you feel no more pain.  We are grateful to have known you and realize that our lives are much richer for having had the privilege!!  This would have been your 44th Birthday and I could have teased you at having much more gray hair and you would have insisted that it was really blond and we would have laughed at the idea.  I saw a really cool movie today and wondered if you would have guessed the surprise ending.  These are the times that I miss you the most, Robert!  But, I believe things happen for a reason and that one day I will understand.  Happy Birthday!!
