Order of the Arrow The Order of the Arrow is an honor society within the Boy Scouts of America. It was established in 1915 by E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson at the Treasure Island Summer Camp in the Philadelphia area. They decided to form a camping society that would preserve the ideals of Scouting. In addition, they decided to make a ceremony based on the lore of the Delaware Indians. Twenty-five members were inducted that year. The idea began to spread to other scout camps in 1917. In 1922 a national lodge was established for coordination of different lodges. It was not until 1948 that the Order became an official part of the Boy Scouts of America. Webmaster: Kyle Wright |
